Business Development Manager, BARD U.S.-Israel Agricultural R&D Fund (Part-Time)
The Binational Agricultural Research and Development (BARD) Fund, a leading U.S.-Israeli partnership supporting collaborative research and development in agriculture, food, and nutrition, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager for a part-time position.
This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a strong background in science, business, and industry-academia collaborations to play a pivotal role in fostering impactful partnerships between Israeli and American scientists and companies. The successful candidate will focus on expanding BARD's engagement with the private sector, identifying new opportunities for joint ventures, and facilitating the translation of innovative research into practical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with agricultural, food, and nutrition companies in both the U.S. and Israel to foster collaborative R&D projects with academic institutions.
Proactively seek out and develop new business opportunities that align with BARD's strategic goals and funding priorities.
Facilitate matchmaking between academic researchers and industry partners, supporting the development of compelling joint proposals.
Represent BARD at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote the fund's mission and identify potential collaborators.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and funding landscapes in the agricultural, food, and nutrition sectors.
Collaborate closely with BARD's scientific and administrative teams to ensure seamless project development and execution.
Native-level fluency in English (both written and spoken) is essential.
Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) is required.
Ph.D. in Natural Sciences is a distinct advantage.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in agricultural, food, and nutrition research and development (R&D) environments.
Proven understanding and experience with the startup ecosystems in Israel and the U.S.
Extensive experience with academia-industry collaborations, technology transfer, and commercialization processes in both Israel and the U.S.
Strong business acumen and ability to identify and assess commercial potential of research projects.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Work Arrangement & Growth Opportunity
This role requires a hybrid work arrangement in Israel, with occasional trips to the U.S.
This part-time role has opportunities for increased hours and responsibilities as deal flow expands
